Field Security Officer Job at UNHCR Uganda - Kampala

UNHCR Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Field Security Officer to join our team in Kampala. This is a vital role responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our personnel, operations, and assets across the country. Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive security risk assessments for UNHCR operations and personnel in Uganda.
• Develop, implement, and regularly update security plans, protocols, and contingency measures.
• Monitor the local security environment, analysing developments and providing timely advice to staff and management.
• Liaise and coordinate effectively with Ugandan authorities, UN agencies, NGO partners, and other security actors.
• Organise and deliver essential security training and briefings for UNHCR staff.
• Respond to and manage security incidents, ensuring proper reporting and follow-up actions.
• Prepare detailed reports on security issues, incidents, and the overall safety situation.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Proven professional experience in security management, preferably within the UN system, an international NGO, or the Ugandan police/military forces.
• In-depth knowledge of UN security management system (UNDSS) protocols and procedures.
• Strong ability to operate effectively in complex and potentially high-risk environments.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local languages such as Luganda is a strong asset.
• A valid driver's licence.
