Job Description
ISSD Uganda is seeking four (4) dedicated and motivated PIP Field Officers to join our team in Bududa District. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to vital watershed management and land restoration projects in Eastern Uganda, directly impacting community resilience and environmental sustainability.
About the Role
Based at our Bududa Field Office, the successful candidates will be responsible for implementing and supporting project activities within designated sub-watersheds. You will work directly with local communities to promote sustainable land use practices and ecosystem restoration, playing a key role in the project's success on the ground.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of all project activities within the assigned (sub) watershed and land restoration pathway.
- Work closely with community members, local leaders, and farmer groups to facilitate project adoption.
- Conduct field assessments, collect data, and monitor project progress and impacts.
- Provide technical support and training on sustainable agriculture and land management practices.
- Prepare regular field reports and maintain accurate records of activities.
- Participate in community mobilisation and awareness-raising sessions.
- Collaborate with other project staff and stakeholders to ensure integrated project delivery.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, or a related field.
- At least 1-2 years of relevant field experience in community-based projects, agriculture extension, or natural resource management.
- Proven experience working in rural communities, preferably in the Mt. Elgon region or similar terrain.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in local languages of Bududa (Lumasaba) being a strong advantage.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit is essential for this field-based role.
- Strong reporting skills and basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel).
