Exciting Career Opportunity: Deputy Director Customs and Trade Facilitations and ICT Specialist
The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to fill the dual role of Deputy Director Customs and Trade Facilitations and ICT Specialist. This is a senior-level position based in the Northern Corridor region, offering a unique chance to contribute to regional trade efficiency and economic integration across East Africa.
In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of streamlining customs procedures, enhancing trade facilitation, and implementing ICT solutions to improve the flow of goods along the Northern Corridor. You will work with multiple stakeholders, including government agencies and private sector partners, to drive policies that reduce transit times and costs.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies for customs harmonisation and trade facilitation within the Northern Corridor member states.
- Lead the design, deployment, and management of ICT systems and digital solutions to support customs and transit processes.
- Coordinate with national revenue authorities and transport agencies to simplify and standardise documentation and procedures.
- Analyse trade data and ICT requirements to recommend improvements for regional transit management systems.
- Build capacity and provide technical support to member states on modern customs and trade facilitation practices.
- Prepare reports, policy briefs, and presentations for senior management and stakeholder forums.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Customs Management, International Trade, ICT, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive professional experience in customs administration, trade facilitation, and ICT project management.
- Proven expertise in regional trade agreements, customs modernisation, and the implementation of ICT for trade (e.g., Single Window Systems, ASYCUDA).
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills within a multi-country context.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing abilities.
- Knowledge of the East African Community (EAC) customs protocols and the Northern Corridor operations is a distinct advantage.
