UN Women Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Communications Specialist to lead our strategic communication and advocacy efforts in Kampala. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of gender equality and women's empowerment in Uganda through powerful storytelling and strategic engagement.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication and advocacy strategies for UN Women Uganda.
- Create high-quality communication materials including press releases, social media content, publications, and multimedia products.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with national and local media houses across Uganda.
- Plan and coordinate events, press conferences, and media engagements.
- Provide strategic communication support for gender equality advocacy campaigns and programmes.
- Monitor and evaluate communication initiatives to ensure impact and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with UN Women regional and global communication teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or journalism.
- Proven experience working on gender equality, women's rights, or development issues in Uganda.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English.
- Strong proficiency in digital communication tools and social media platforms.
- Experience in media relations and event management within the Ugandan context.
- Knowledge of Uganda's media landscape and development sector.
