Hima Cement Limited, a leading manufacturer in Uganda's construction industry, is seeking a skilled and experienced Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team in Kampala. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge industrial automation systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

As an Automation Engineer at Hima Cement, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, optimising, and improving our plant automation systems to ensure maximum efficiency, reliability, and safety in our cement production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain automation systems including PLCs, SCADA, and DCS
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation system faults to minimise plant downtime
• Develop and modify control software and HMI applications
• Conduct regular system audits and performance evaluations
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to optimise processes
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and protocols
• Prepare technical documentation and reports
• Provide training and support to operations staff on automation systems

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar)
• Experience with SCADA systems and industrial networks
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
• Knowledge of cement manufacturing processes is an advantage
