Agronomist – Vanilla Cultivation Specialist Job in Uganda
Job Description
ISP is seeking an experienced Agronomist – Vanilla Cultivation Specialist to join our agricultural team in Uganda. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to contribute to Uganda's growing vanilla industry while working with a leading agricultural organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement vanilla cultivation strategies and best practices
• Provide technical guidance on vanilla farming techniques to local farmers
• Monitor crop health, pest control, and disease management in vanilla plantations
• Conduct soil analysis and recommend appropriate fertilisation programmes
• Train farmers on post-harvest handling and vanilla bean processing
• Collaborate with research institutions on vanilla variety improvement
• Maintain detailed records of cultivation activities and yield data
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, or related agricultural field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in vanilla cultivation or similar cash crops
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan agricultural conditions and vanilla market
• Experience working with smallholder farmers in Uganda
• Excellent communication skills in English and local languages
• Willingness to travel extensively within vanilla-growing regions
