Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications
- Provide psychotherapy and counselling services
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
- Participate in community mental health outreach programmes
- Provide training and supervision to junior medical staff
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognised institution
- Master of Medicine in Psychiatry (MMed Psychiatry) or equivalent qualification
- Full registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- Minimum 3 years of post-specialisation experience in psychiatry
- Experience working in resource-limited settings preferred
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Commitment to ethical medical practice and patient confidentiality
