Job Description
World Vision International Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Officer for Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) to join our team in Kampala. This is a rewarding opportunity to implement life-changing projects that combat poverty and improve food security for communities across Uganda.
As a Project Officer - Food Security and Livelihoods, you will provide crucial technical support in implementing FSL project activities in designated districts. You will ensure timely and efficient project execution to achieve our objectives of sustainable agriculture and improved livelihoods. You will collaborate closely with the Project Manager, district local government, community structures, and other stakeholders to deliver impactful results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement FSL project activities in line with project design and donor requirements
- Provide technical guidance to community-based facilitators, farmer groups, and community structures
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities and provide on-site coaching
- Facilitate training on improved agricultural practices, climate-smart agriculture, and value addition
- Support formation of farmer groups and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs)
- Promote sustainable land management and natural resource management practices
- Collect accurate project data and participate in monitoring and evaluation activities
- Collaborate with district production departments and represent World Vision in relevant forums
- Prepare timely activity reports and contribute to donor reporting
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience implementing food security projects, preferably with an INGO
- Proven experience in community mobilisation, capacity building, and working with farmer groups
- Strong knowledge of sustainable agriculture and value chain development
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Valid motorcycle riding permit (essential for field work)
- Computer literacy in MS Office applications
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Commitment to World Vision's Christian mission and core values
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with donor-funded projects (USAID, EU, etc.)
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in project areas
Work Environment:
