Programme Specialist - Women's Economic Empowerment Job Opportunity at UN Women Uganda
UN Women Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Programme Specialist for Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) to join our team in Kampala. This is a senior-level position offering the opportunity to drive meaningful change for women's economic participation across Uganda.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide high-level technical support and strategic guidance for the design, implementation, and monitoring of UN Women's Women's Economic Empowerment portfolio in Uganda.
- Lead and support the development of innovative partnerships and resource mobilisation strategies to fund and sustain WEE initiatives.
- Deliver technical assistance and capacity-building support to key government ministries, departments, agencies, and civil society organisation partners.
- Contribute significantly to knowledge management, including documenting best practices, lessons learned, and producing reports on women's economic empowerment in the Ugandan context.
- Analyse economic policies and programmes through a gender lens to advocate for inclusive growth and poverty reduction strategies that benefit women.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Economics, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive professional experience specifically in women's economic empowerment, gender equality, poverty reduction, or livelihood programmes.
- Proven track record in programme cycle management, including design, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Excellent partnership-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working with government, donors, and NGOs in Uganda.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Working knowledge of local Ugandan languages (e.g., Luganda, Runyankole, Acholi) is a strong asset.
