Job Description
Kijani Forestry, a leading sustainable forestry company in Uganda, is seeking a qualified Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer to join our team in Gulu. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about environmental conservation and data-driven decision making in Northern Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement comprehensive MEL frameworks for forestry projects
• Develop monitoring tools and data collection systems
• Track project performance indicators and outcomes
• Conduct regular field visits to verify data quality
• Prepare detailed MEL reports for management and donors
• Facilitate learning sessions and knowledge sharing
• Manage project databases and ensure data integrity
• Coordinate with project teams across Northern Uganda
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Forestry or related field
• Minimum 3 years' experience in MEL role with NGOs or development organisations
• Strong knowledge of MEL methodologies and tools
• Proficiency in data analysis software (Excel, SPSS, STATA)
• Experience with donor reporting requirements
• Excellent communication and report writing skills
• Ability to work in rural settings in Northern Uganda
• Understanding of forestry or environmental projects is an advantage
