Islamic Banking Internal Auditor Job at Tropical Bank Limited in Kampala

Tropical Bank Limited, one of Uganda's leading financial institutions, is seeking an experienced Islamic Banking Internal Auditor to join our dynamic team in Kampala. This senior role offers an exciting opportunity to ensure Shari'ah compliance and contribute to the growth of Islamic banking in Uganda.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
As our Islamic Banking Internal Auditor, you will conduct comprehensive Shari'ah audits and reviews of the Bank's products, operations, and internal controls to ensure alignment with Islamic finance principles, regulatory requirements, and organisational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct detailed operational and compliance audits according to approved Shari'ah Audit Plans
• Assess and improve internal control systems for Shari'ah compliance
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with Shari'ah non-compliance
• Act as liaison between internal audit function and Shari'ah Advisory Board
• Prepare and present Shari'ah Audit reports to senior management and SSB
• Develop Internal Shari'ah Audit Policy and Procedure Manual
• Provide training sessions on Shari'ah auditing and compliance awareness
• Collaborate with Risk Departments on Shari'h risk identification and mitigation

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• University degree in Islamic Banking and Finance or Shari'ah from accredited university
• Minimum 5 years banking experience, preferably in Islamic banking
• Professional qualifications: CSAA, CIPA, and CIFE (Mandatory)
• ACCA/CPA qualification preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and audit software
• Fluent in English (Arabic language skills preferred)

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Extensive knowledge of Islamic finance principles and Fiqh al Mu'amalat
• Strong understanding of Bank of Uganda regulations and AAOIFI standards
• Excellent analytical, communication, and report writing skills
• Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities
