Health, Safety, Environment & Social (HSES) Officer Job at Yalelo Uganda - Butembe-Buikwe

Yalelo Uganda, a leading aquaculture company, is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety, Environment & Social (HSES) Officer to join our team in Butembe-Buikwe. This is an exciting opportunity for a safety professional to implement and maintain comprehensive HSES management systems in Uganda's growing aquaculture sector.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
• Conduct regular risk assessments and workplace inspections to identify potential hazards
• Ensure compliance with Ugandan HSE regulations and international standards
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions
• Deliver HSE training and awareness programmes for staff and contractors
• Manage waste disposal and environmental protection measures
• Monitor and report on HSES performance metrics
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and local community stakeholders

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field
• Minimum 2 years' experience in HSE role, preferably in manufacturing or aquaculture
• Knowledge of Ugandan HSE legislation and international standards
• Professional certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is an advantage
• Strong communication and training skills
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
