Job Description
UNHCR Uganda is seeking a dedicated Field Officer to join our team in Arua. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in refugee protection and field operations in Uganda's West Nile region.
As a Field Officer with UNHCR, you will play a crucial role in supporting our field operations and protection activities. You will be at the forefront of our humanitarian work, directly impacting the lives of refugees and host communities in Arua district.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor and assess the protection situation in refugee settlements across Arua
• Conduct regular field visits and protection assessments in the assigned area
• Liaise effectively with local authorities, partners, and community leaders
• Facilitate community-based protection activities and initiatives
• Support registration processes and documentation of persons of concern
• Assist in the distribution of humanitarian assistance to refugees
• Prepare comprehensive field reports and protection updates
• Ensure protection mainstreaming in all field activities and programmes
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• University degree in Social Sciences, Law, International Relations or related field
• Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in protection or field operations
• Proficiency in local languages spoken in Arua and West Nile region
• Ability to work effectively in remote locations with limited facilities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working with refugee communities is highly desirable
