Job Description
Cavendish University Uganda (CUU), a leading private university licensed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) for Innovations & Partnerships. This is a senior executive role based at our main campus in Kampala, Uganda.
Since commencing operations in 2008, CUU has established itself as a centre of excellence, innovation, and transformation in Uganda's higher education sector. As DVC for Innovations & Partnerships, you will be at the forefront of driving our strategic vision, fostering cutting-edge research, and building transformative collaborations that enhance our academic impact and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of the university's innovation, research, and partnership agenda.
- Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic partnerships with local and international institutions, industry, government, and NGOs.
- Drive innovation in teaching, learning, and research methodologies to keep CUU at the forefront of higher education in Uganda.
- Secure funding and resources for research projects and innovative initiatives from grants, donors, and partner organisations.
- Oversee the commercialisation of university research and intellectual property.
- Promote a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students, faculty, and staff.
- Represent the university at high-level national and international forums related to innovation and partnerships.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- A PhD or equivalent terminal degree from a recognised university.
- Proven senior leadership experience (minimum 8-10 years) in a university, research institution, or related organisation, preferably within Uganda or the East African region.
- A distinguished record of research, innovation, and successful partnership building.
- Strong understanding of the Ugandan and East African higher education landscape, including NCHE regulations.
- Excellent network with key stakeholders in academia, industry, and government.
- Demonstrated ability to secure grants and manage large projects.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
