Chief Commercial Officer - Lead Commercial Strategy at Jumia Uganda

This is a senior executive role where you will drive growth, market expansion, and revenue for Jumia's ecosystem across the country.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and execute the overall commercial strategy for Jumia Uganda to achieve growth and market leadership.
  • Lead and manage the commercial department, including marketplace sales, vendor relations, and category management.
  • Drive revenue growth across all Jumia platforms (Marketplace, JumiaPay, Logistics) within the Ugandan market.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key sellers, brands, and commercial partners in Uganda.
  • Analyse market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
  • Oversee pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and sales initiatives to maximise profitability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Logistics, Finance) to ensure aligned business objectives.
  • Prepare and manage the commercial budget, forecasts, and performance reports.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, or a related field; an MBA or Master's is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience, preferably in e-commerce, retail, FMCG, or technology.
  • Proven track record of driving significant revenue growth and market share in Uganda or the East African region.
  • Strong understanding of the Ugandan consumer market and digital landscape.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in building and mentoring high-performing commercial teams.
